ITEC :Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation

CEIT

As part of our international development cooperation, India has been establishing IT skill training centres in the grant project mode. Called ‘Centres of Excellence in IT’ or CEIT for short, these centres are designed as computer laboratories hosted usually at a higher education institution, and are equipped with IT hardware, courseware and trainers for providing market-ready IT skill training. Some of these centres are also equipped with PARAM range of supercomputers.

The centres are established and operated for 2 years by CDAC and trainees are provided globally recognised CDAC certificates. As part of the project, CDAC also provides training for master trainers, who can continue the training at the centre upon the completion of the project tenure.

A total of 58 CEIT projects in 47 countries have been implemented till date, with nearly 2 lakh trainees being trained in subjects like high performance computing, AI/ML and big data. Currently, CEIT projects at Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Argentina are operational. Training support is being provided for centres in Jordan and Tanzania. CDAC is also supporting the upgradation of the CEIT established in Kazakhstan.

“ARGENTINA(2022): Centre of Excellence in IT at Buenos Aires”

  • MEA working with CDAC established India – Argentina Centre of Excellence in IT at University of Hurlingham in Buenos Aires in the year August 12th 2022.

  • Setting up of IA-CEIT consists of :

    • Creation of IT infrastructure (IT hardware/ software, computer peripherals, networking equipment & classroom equipment etc.).

    • Supply, installation & training on CDAC PARAM Shavak VR (Mini Supercomputer).

    • Deputation of CDAC expert at Technical Advisor at IA-CEIT.

    • CDAC’s certificate to the successful candidates passing out of the IA-CEIT in Buenos Aires.

    • Exchange of experts between India & Argentina for training, HPC & project management.

    • Project management & consultancy

  • The installation & commissioning of IT Infrastructure was completed on 12th Aug 2022 along with delivery of Courseware & Reference Books at IA-CEIT.

  • The deployment of PARAM Shavak VR completed on 22nd Sep 2022.

  • 8 Master Trainers from Argentina Trained at CDAC in India under ITEC

  • Technical Advisor from CDAC was deputed on 5th Dec 2022 to make IA-CEIT operational and courses in the areas of Big Data Technologies, AR & VR, Software Technologies and JAVA are running at IA-CEIT. 120 students trained so far at IA-CEIT.

“MYANMAR(2021): Extension of India – Myanmar Centre For Enhancement of IT Skills in Yangon as ATC of CDAC”

  • MEA working with CDAC established the Extension of India-Myanmar Centre for Enhancement of IT Skills as Authorized Training Centre of C-DAC’ at University of Computer Studies in Yangon Myanmar vide Agreement dated March 2, 2021.

  • The 4th & current phase of the project continue the accreditation to IMCEITS as ATC of CDAC till March 2024, monitoring of the courses by CDAC, On-line Faculty Development Program, Preparation & conduction of the examinations with IMCEITS, supply of necessary course material & reference books to 300 students in 3 years. Also, CDAC certificates would be awarded to students passing out of IMCEITS during the period of accreditation. Altogether 2705 students (from 2008-2023) have graduated from IMCEITS.

  • Level A courses (580 hrs) offered to the students / Government Officials / Professionals in domains of Java and online Faculty Development Programs were conducted on AI and Web Technology.

“SOLOMON ISLANDS (2020): Centre of Excellence in IT at Honiara”

  • MEA working with CDAC established the India – Solomon Islands Centre of Excellence in IT (IS-CEIT) at Honiara at Solomon Islands National University (SINU) at Honiara, Solomon Islands vide Agreement dated Aug 20, 2020.

  • Project consists of :

    • Creation of IT infrastructure (IT hardware/ software, computer peripherals, networking equipment, classroom equipment, video conferencing and UPS etc.)

    • Course material & reference books for students undergoing training.

    • Deployment of CDAC’s LILA, & e-Mentor (LMS) with required digital content.

    • Deputation of 2 CDAC experts at CEIT for Centre coordination & course delivery.

    • Training of 6 participants from Solomon Islands CDAC in India on advance IT courses.

    • CDAC’s certificate to the successful candidates passing out of CEIT in Solomon Islands.

    • Exchange of experts for training, e-learning & project management.

    • Project management & consultancy

  • The installation & commissioning of IT Infrastructure was completed in July 2023 along with delivery of Courseware & Reference Books at IS-CEIT.

  • The deployment of e-Mentor & LILA was completed in January 2024.

  • One Centre Head & Trainer from CDAC was deputed to make IS-CEIT operational and courses in the areas of Data Analysis, IT, Networking & IT Project Management are running at IS-CEIT. A total of 24 students trained so far at IS-CEIT.

“SYRIA (2020): NexGen Centre of Excellence in IT at Damascus”

  • MEA working with CDAC established NexGen India – Syria Centre of Excellence in IT at National Authority for Network Services building at Damascus, Syria in the year July 14th 2020 .

  • Setting up of NexGen CoE IT consists of :

    • Creation of IT infrastructure

    • Course material & reference books for students

    • Supply, installation & training on CDAC Cyber Forensic Tools

    • Deputation of CDAC experts as Trainer at NexGen ISCEIT.

    • CDAC’s certificate to the successful candidates passing out of the NexGen IS-CEIT in Damascus.

    • Exchange of experts for training, Cyber Forensic & project management.

  • Three CDAC Experts were deputed as Trainer at NexGen IS-CEIT for Centre Coordination & Course Delivery in Sep 2021.

  • Installation & commissioning of IT Hardware completed in Sep 2022.

  • CDAC Cyber Forensic Tools were also installed & Commissioned at NexGen IS-CEIT.

  • Training of 3 Syrian trainers concluded under ITEC during Feb – Jul 2019 and for balance 3 completed their training in Sep 2022 batch.

  • Certificate Course in Advance Web Technology, Cyber Security, Network Security, Ethical Hacking, Cyber Forensic, Cloud Technology, Web Programming, DevOps, VMWare Technology, Data Management and e-governance have been conducted

“GUYANA (2019): Centre for Excellence of Information Technology, Georgetown”

  • MEA working with CDAC established the India - Guyana Centre for Excellence in Information Technology (IG-CEIT) at University of Guyana in Georgetown, Guyana in the year 2019.

  • Project consists of :

    • Setting up of IT infrastructure at CEIT.

    • Course material & reference books for students undergoing training.

    • Deployment of CDAC’s LILA, e-learning software and learning management system with required digital content.

    • Deputation of 3 CDAC experts to Guyana for a period of 2 years each to assist in centre coordination & course delivery.

    • CDAC’s certificate to the successful candidates passing out of CEIT in Guyana.

    • Exchange of experts between India & Guyana for training, e-learning & project management.

    • Project management & consultancy.

  • The Centre has two Training Labs, Classroom, Server cum UPS room, Director & Dy. Director office, Staff room, Reading room, Counsellor room, Meeting Room, Reception & waiting area.

  • CEIT offered training on Advanced Network Security, Linux System Administration, Data Communication & Networking, Advanced Web Technology and Information Technology.

  • Total 141 candidates certified in different programs.
