Project consists of :
A network to offer e-services with priority on Tele-Education and Tele-Medicine services between India and 5 Central Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Strengthening the ICT resource centres already set up by CDAC in these countries under GOI funding, for a period of 5 years post-implementation.
Connecting the ICT resource centre in each country to a leading hospital and five remote hospitals.
Providing Tele-Medicine services via on-line medical consultations from India in various disciplines & specialties.
Tele-Education services are proposed to be provided by leading Indian universities and educational institutes in IT & non-IT programmes (postgraduate, undergraduate, certificate and diploma).
The Detailed Project Report for the Telemedicine component, submitted by CDAC, was approved by MEA in November 2016; deliberations with Indian Missions, universities, hospitals and ministries on the Central Asian side are ongoing.
As the project had not progressed for over three and a half years, CDAC proposed to terminate the Agreement with MEA; discussions to revive the Telemedicine leg of the project resumed with JS–ERS in Oct 2020.
