EDII is an acknowledged National Resource Institute for Entrepreneurship Education, Research, Training and Institution Building. EDII is an autonomous, not-for-profit institute set up in 1983 sponsored by national apex financial institutions. In the International arena, efforts to develop entrepreneurship by way of sharing resources and organizing training programmes have helped EDII earn accolades and support from World Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, UNIDO, ILO, FNSt, British Council, Ford Foundation, European Union, ASEAN Secretariat and several other renowned agencies. The association of EDII with the ITEC Division of MEA, GoI, started in 2000-2001. Since then, EDII has completed 164 capacity building programmes in the areas of Entrepreneurship and Investment Promotion, thus grooming over 4010 professionals from around 135 developing countries. With the support of Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, EDII has completed the task of establishing Entrepreneurship Development Centres (EDCs) in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Uzbekistan and efforts are underway to set up EDCs in 5 select African countries.
