Sagar Amrut Scholarships

India is a trusted partner for capacity-building needs of the Pacific Island nations. Almost 1000 government officials, professionals and executives have availed the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) scholarships in both civilian and defence courses in the last 10 years.

At the Third FIPIC Summit in May 2023, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced the Sagar Amrut Package of scholarships, providing a further impetus to India’s capacity-building commitments to countries in this region. Under the Sagar Amrut Scholarships, India is responding to the specific training and capacity-building needs of the PIC states, with 200 fully funded scholarship slots each year for participants from PIC states.

Since the announcement, more than 288 individuals from Pacific Island Countries have participated in various Sagar Amrut courses.
