INDIAN TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION (ITEC) PROGRAMME

Hello Pura Vida! My name is David Damazzio Fernandez, I am Costa Rican and from a very young age I was passionate about aviation, hence when it was time to decide on my future vocation I chose to become a commercial airline pilot, cabin crew passenger and air transport manager. I currently work as a Police Aviator Pilot for the Ministry of Public Security, specifically for the Air Surveillance Service, which is like our Air Force but demilitarized by virtue of the Costa Rican tradition that is civil, pacifist, and it is precisely because of this work in the public sector that I have faced realities that, although they do not have a direct implication in the functions entrusted to me, certainly concern me as a citizen of the world and in which I would like to contribute. This is how I got the scholarship "Energy Efficiency Practitioner's Course in Industrial Utilities" sponsored by the Government of India through the very honorable Embassy of that country in Panama concurrent for my country and taught by the National Productivity Council (NPC) and the Dr. Ambedkar Institute on Productivity. The curriculum was certainly extensive and very useful to learn and understand global trends towards a new era where energy efficiency will set the standard, on which our subsistence as a species depends and that are economically sustainable. Today, thanks to this study opportunity, I feel responsible for contributing my new knowledge to an industry that, although it is medium-dated, innovates every day. 119 years ago the aircraft were made of wood, fabric and feathers; today they transport 4.1 billion people around the world and contribute 2.7 trillion dollars to the global GDP and the industry contributes between 2 and 3 percent of the total polluting emissions. There is certainly much to be done but energy efficiency is currently the highest priority in the industry. Now I feel ready to undertake from a new professional edge and it was thanks to the Government of India, its diplomatic and technical authorities in an effort of international cooperation that deserves my gratitude and genuine respect.

I am Sarabha Sanasy from Mauritius. I am a Trade Analyst at the Ministry of Commerce & Consumer Protection and it is a very fortunate and pleasant opportunity for me to attend the six-week program under the ITEC here at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII). Indeed, I feel very blessed to be a part of this ITEC program, I have been prompted to learn in a course, which was very important for me. So it's all about infrastructure, industrial and sustainable project appraisal development. This course has indeed empowered me, here at EDII, we had class sessions from conscientious professional and learned professors, who prompted us towards case studies, group interactions where we learned a lot from each other. They help us to develop our soft skills and also this impacted my critical thinking. So, this was a very good opportunity for me as, a Mauritian citizen from a developing country. I will also like to extend my thanks to the Government of India because they have given us the opportunity for a study tour in India. We were not only in Ahmedabad but were also prompted towards other states, like Rajasthan and during this study tour, we went to different places of interest like the Palace in Udaipur and Mount Abu. And these visits, they helped me to shape myself. I got to know more about the Indian culture, and the food, which was indeed very tasty. Thank you also, all the learning objectives were very comprehensive, detailed, and all the classroom theories were backed by industrial visits and visits to important institutions. This indeed has helped me shape my thinking process and it was like a handshake with different businessmen. Thank you. Government of India. Thank you for investing in people. Thank you for connecting people. Namaste India!
