National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences, was set up at SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, India in 1994. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament in 1998. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The institute offers Masters and Doctoral programs in 10 different disciplines in pharmaceutical sciences and the students trained at NIPER are highly regarded in pharmaceutical industry. NIPER-SAS Nagar has over the last two decades attained reputation internationally and established a brand name for itself in the field of Drugs and Pharmaceuticals.
